Our childrens community theater program is organised to make musical theater available in Nevada County to all. We run an educational and inexpensive program with the major costs to families being script deposits and base level costumes. The above photo from 2024 production of Newsies showcases local youth choreographers, student directors, and student painted sets. We strive to give students exposure to all aspects of community theater and move into leadership position in the group as they progress in knowledge and skills. We know that not every student will go on into professional theater, but we hope to give them some confidence and performance skills should they wish for more formal education elsewhere. This is a great place for families of all ages to begin the journey of community theater.
UMC Children’s Community Theater Announces Auditions for THE MILK DRAGON
In a village of black and white, where “everything is perfect” and anything deemed too different or dangerous must be banished, censored and declared illegal, two children, Zack and Abra, encounter an impossible creature made of light and color and follow it to a precarious ecosystem where everything forbidden still exists. Zack and Abra unwittingly wreak havoc when their unacknowledged Fear escapes their bodies and threatens to destroy everything it encounters. This show explores the power of creativity, imagination, artistic expression and freedom of choice, as it celebrates the courage of children.
